Re:Individual health insurance policy and family floater policy

The health insurance benefit would be beneficial to you as supplementary health insurance coverage apart from the coverage offered by the corporate policy. Plus, if you have taken an individual health insurance policy, it helps you to get some income tax rebates. So it is not necessary for you to cancel your existing policy. Also such a policy will also pay for a claim on a rateable proportion. Total cover would still be Rs. 3 lacs. Normally the group policy would be more liberal in terms coverage with regard to pre-existing coverage and maternity benefits etc. and it would make sense to use the policy 1st .

Hi
Individual health insurance policy and family floater policy are two types of health insurance policies available in the market. An individual can opt for any of them depending upon his/her requirement. If a person has a family buying individual coverage for every family member can prove to be an expensive affair. In such a scenario a family health insurance commonly known as a family floater health insurance would be an ideal choice.
