Definition

o SIP, Systematic Investment Plan, is a regular investment option that is available in Mutual Funds. The other investment option comparable to SIPs is the recurring deposit schemes from Post office and banks.
o Basically, under an SIP option an investor commits making a regular (monthly or quarterly) investments in a particular Mutual Fund, at the then prevailing price of the fund (i.e., NAV)
o The SIP option is available with both Equity and income types of funds



Minimum Investment

o The minimum investment amount in SIP (Systematic Investment Plan) is in the range of Rs 100 to Rs 1,000 per month
o However, recently ICICI has launched an Rs50 per month SIP.

Well it depends on the fund you want to invest. But for most of the funds, the minimum SIP amount is 500/-.
