Topic: What are the future prospects of HDFC Top 200 Growth mutual fund?

I have invested my money in UTI Index Select Fund but now it is giving me losses and one of my friends has suggested to withdraw my money and invest in the HDFC Top 200 Growth mutual fund is it a good move?

HDFC Top 200 Fund seeks capital appreciation and would invest up to 90 per cent in equity and the remaining in debt instruments. Also, the stocks would be drawn from the companies in the BSE 200 Index as well as 200 largest capitalized companies in India.

UTI Select Index Fund is an open-ended equity fund with the objective to invest in select stocks of the BSE Sensex and the S & P CNX Nifty. The fund does not replicate any of the indices but aims to attain performance better than the performance of the indices.

Both the above mentioned schemes are large cap diversified equity schemes in order to meet the investment objective of capital appreciation.

In last 1 year, both these schemes have returned -27% against the category average of -37%. But HDFC Top 200 Fund has over performed UTI Select Index Fund by delivering 18% returns (CAGR) in last 5 years against 13% delivered by the latter fund

Since both these schemes are good large cap schemes, you can stay invested in UTI Select Index Fund and make additional investment in HDFC Top 200 Fund for the long term horizon. Few other good large cap schemes are Sundaram BNP Paribas Select Focus Fund and DSP BlackRock Top 100 Equity Fund
