If you believe that at old-age individuals are more prone to ailment and health issues, so you will purchase one for yourself at that age, you might have to face lots of problems at that time. Firstly, there are very less offers in market that offer health cover to old-aged people. Secondly, if you manage to stumble upon a plan, it would be difficult to adjust in your budget just because of high premium. Thirdly, you might not get a health insurance policy that gives you life-time benefits. Fourthly, plans available at that age have restrictive underwriting clauses that provide you minimum cover.

So, it is always better to opt for health cover at the earliest, you have to pay less premium amount at the early age, which is easily adjustable in the budget. Furthermore, every health insurer has maximum entry age, beyond which one is not eligible to buy the same.

The best thing to do is to buy Apollo Munich’s plan as it provide you life-long coverage that offer you coverage not only in your early or middle age but also will act as a shelter for your health issues in old-age. So, don’t wait till you are old to have health insurance.

mehak i agree with you there! most of us don't think of taking a policy till a mishap happens or we grow old.. but the truth is.. sooner the better. it's about making your health future secure. speaking form personal experience, my friend 32 yr old recently met with a serious accident and had to make hefty payment for hospitalization and treatment, had he planned his finances well.. and a policy.. it would have been a different story.. fortunately, he has realized it now.

Hi Ravi, one of my friend's recently bought a policy from max bupa and seems to be quite pleased so far.. i am not sure of the details though..

what is the cover you are looking for, what is your age? these are certain things one needs to take into account.

max bupa has 3 type of products: heartbeat silver, heartbeat gold and heartbeat platinum.
Heartbeat silver policy covers for up to 2 lacs, 3 lacs, gold covers for up to 5 lacs, 7.5 lacs and 10 lacs and platinum policy for up to 15 lacs, 20 lacs and 50 lacs. Depends on what your requirements are.

If you are looking at anything between 5-10 lacs, then you should consider heartbeat gold.

You can refer to their product page or call their contact center for more details. http://www.maxbupa.com/ForyouyourFamily/Heartbeat/HeartbeatGold.aspx

Since you need a policy for your family, think there are some benefits that could be useful such as pre and post hospitalization covered up to 20% of sum assured. All day care procedures also covered up to sum assured. health check ups at the time of renewal, things like organ transplant are also covered up to sum assured.

so.. you may want to dig further and find out if it suits your requirements.

Thank you for giving information regarding individual health insurance. We have plenty of policies available when we are young compared to old age.So, I wish every individual to take policy to resist the risk factors in future.

as they say prevention is better than cure! so.. i second that thought.. also, as you grow old it get's more complicated with critical illness factors etc that are excluded by quite a few providers...

so.. better is to plan in advance.. since future is mostly uncertain..

Great advice! I think it is imperative to be insured throughout your life. You never know what will come up and being financially prepared is always smart.

I have one question though - How will Apollo Munich's plan "act as a shelter" for upcoming health issues as I age?

Thanks!

Hi
I completely agree that one should purchase health insurance policy during early stages of life. This is simply because buying health insurance at an early age is comparatively inexpensive. Also one is less prone to diseases when young and a finding a health insurance is relatively easy and convenient. In contrast, as the person ages finding a health insurance policy is more and more difficult as he/she is far more susceptible to diseases and majority of health insurance provider are reluctant to offer them coverage due to higher chances of a claim.

Also I completely agree with shalesh, that Max Bupa Health Insurance policies are the best health insurancepolicies in the market with respect to features, coverage, benefits, premium and much more.

I think you can avail good health plan for your family from Bajaj Allianz, Bajaj has various flexible health care insurance plans to offer. Visit bajajallianz.com for more details. In their plans, “Family Floater Health Guard” policy may be suitable to your family health insurance needs.
