Hi,

Is this the right time to start a SIP?
I want to start SIP for long term, min 5 years. What is the minimum amount I should invest? Which are the best MF to invest for tax savings? Which are the best MFs to invest (not necessary tax savings)? Is there any chance of loosing money in case market dips further?

Thanks,
Satish

On a 5 years horizon, every time is the right time to start but follow the following

1. Invest in 5 star rated Crisil/Value research funds only
2. review the NAV every 6 months so that next investment may be made in some
better perfoming funds
3. there is no minimum amount ... but as % of your income I recommend around 10 to 15 % each month
4. on a 5 year horizon you can expect post tax between 12 to 15 % returns . if your horizon is below 3 years keep off the MF investment via SIP
