Performance Review (As on 9th Feb 2010)

  • ICICI Prudential Tax Plan has always managed to outperform its benchmark (S&P CNX Nifty)
  • Being more than 10 year old fund in tax saving category, ICICI Prudential Tax Plan has proved its worth by consistently outperforming its benchmark (S&P CNX 500) and its peers with a good margin

Portfolio Analysis (As on 9th Feb 2010)

  • Software, Pharmaceutical and Oil & Petroleum are the preferred sectors in the portfolio
  • Increased exposure is seen in Engineering, Metals and Housing & Construction sector. As a result, the manager has bought large number of shares in Kirloskar Brothers in last 1 month

iTrust's Observations

  • The fund has consistently been performing well when compared with its benchmark and peers. Being an Equity Linked Saving Scheme with a lockin period of 3 years, the fund manager has the flexibility to hold the stocks for long term horizon as there is limited redemption pressure.
  • The fund manager has maintained a diversified portfolio across sectors and stocks. This has enabled the fund to diversify the risk in investments made in laggard sector
  • This fund consistently follows the strategy of maintaining a multi cap (large, mid and small cap) portfolio fetching the benefit of different market situations currently holding over 50% exposure to mid cap stocks. Greater mid cap holding has resulted in high returns for the fund in the recent market uptrend
